Silence Personified-A journey into Era of Romantic Movies -FlashBack

As the era of Angry young man was coming  to an end came Tezaab and with it 2 stars .Can some one forget the melodious "Keh Do Ke Tum" from the movie Tezaab  though "Ek DO Teen " is more famous. This was a more action oriented romantic film with lot of emotional touch .Here came the era of love stories with sacrifice and the use of silence to convey things beautifully.Lets have a look at this era.The emergence of 3 Khans who still continue to rule the Hindi Film Industry.

Maine Pyaar Kiya is one such movie .This movie has great  romantic one-liner and it is good to see the sacrifice for love  and the pains and finally the success. These ideas are put in a beautiful way.A film which made Salman Khan the star.It had some great songs. If you compare ,Films have changed and so have the people .This is a fast paced world now.Only few remain the same.

Coming back to the era then came Mansoor Khan's " Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak "and what it gave us.It gave Indian Industry Aamir Khan .Again in this era the basic theme of the films used to revolve around the concept of love, sacrifice and family drama and some great songs.

All of a sudden came a drastic change. An aggressive, assertive and a touch of negative shade in the  romantic story telling and here came SRK with Baazigar.3 films ,3 Stars .3 people who went on work of different genere of memorable films over the years.

Somehow the songs of these films still keep humming in our ears.An era of soulful songs continued with films like Saajan  and huge hits like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun ,DDLJ and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

These are the films which we have grown up seeing and thanks to all those who made these films in a age we we able to see.
An era to remember,an era of depicting true  silent romance on Silver Screen  .Yes there were many more huge hits, but these were some movies that comes to my mind.
Thanks for reading .An era of silence personified ,a flashback.

Happinesss and Monotony of Life(Career point of view)-A Scientific reason? and swalpa friendu real story !

Life is an Experience ,Dreams are reality, monotony of life is a choice, events happen when they have to .What the hell am i talking about ,before i could  answer this ,i got a call.My friend from other side:
"Maga ,hudugi oplilla kano ,kai kotlu   ",now what could i say,"its OK,take it cool, she was a good girl  not meant  for you" then came the reply
"Maga illa le,adu nan ginta siktara avalge, yen antale gotta " i will continue with this conversation later, every one thinks he is a Shah Rukh Khan.So did my friend .
Again this conversation in this blog has a reason .Everything has.Lets have a look at the topic and come back to this conversation.Again this is just my point of view.

Whats happiness-For me its unlimited ,everlasting  and where do we look for happiness?.

I say i would be happy if i can get a BMW or Mercedes .Now for that my first happiness is that i need to earn for that .So will i be happy with it even if i get these?I might not ! Again its a question where my expectation of me being happy takes a new turn .
Then what is true happiness.?Eating my favourite  rasgullas(a Bengali sweet) will give only momentary happiness
because my happiness will fade away if i try to eat more. Then where should i look for true happiness.

I should look at true love, which my friend never found ,i am sorry to say this, and he was never looking at it !,he in fact dropped out of going to USA for higher studies , he says (he should have thought )and 6 months down the lane comes up this and starts blaming the other person. This is simply putting blame on others.I have asked him not to call me and blame others .I hate people blaming women ,i respect them a lot .And what ever reason might be, it was his choice ,outcome was not in his hand ,and nor will be.

That's another important point. It might be philosophical but the scientific fact.We do not have control over birth or death then how can we control events in between. We can only make choices.Even outcome of the choices is not under our control. An honest ,sincere effort will only ensure it might be.

But i see very few people value trueness of a person.Again its just a perspective.Again we can just make choices.

Monotony of Life :A career point of view-

Monotony of life, not moving along is professional career ,growth even monetarily is a choice we make.
Its with what vision we make choices that  makes your life less or more monotonous.
Only Steve Jobs could have thought of  Apple .The sleekness and style in each and every apple is an apt example of the calligraphy classes which he took years back made good use of .Only he could have done that.

If you miss that vision ,miss that right choice .You miss the success ! Hope i can get that vision and be a good
entrepreneur one day.Again i can make only  a choice here with honesty.

I still haven't completed my friend's story .Lets go back there-Lets see his DVD(people who have seen  Lifeu istene will understand better).
He never loved the girl.Only attracted by her beauty and there was no true love there. He was not clear of how to go ahead forget from her side, even in his case(Remember he has postponed his education plans). He just wanted to win over her.So she rejected .Now he is eyeing another one. This is not true love,or true happiness .He is behind one more girl now.his GRE classmate .This says it all.Faithfulness and honesty is the key.Again it was
a choice from his side.

True love is one where you make sacrifices, help the other person. If you don't  find this understanding  mutual ,go to Himalayas-I hope i need not in this life ! Coming back to serious note as said by one great person:
"Life is a tale ,as told by an Idiot ,Full of Sound and Fury ,Signifying Nothing"

The idea of the person who told this here is to trigger people to try to make it significant .

Making  the choice is in our hands !Coming out of Monotony and finding true love and happiness is in our hands.

And sorry for the friend whom i made a case study .He needed this though !

Lifeu Istene-Nam Bhatru Movie experience

Good one and watched it today after getting a positive review about it .Ade male ,mungaru inda konegu horage bandrappa nam Bhatru, this time his assistant has directed i suppose (Pawan Kuamr ).Good  acting by Diganth.
Good senti ending and a one time watch. One good thing about Bhatru is he has made kannada audience come back to theatres.Waiting for Paramatma .

The jovial relationship between the lead actor and his parents is portrayed very well in the movie. The catchy trademark Yograj Bhat dialogues will make sure you are not bored .Screen Play is good .Too many songs
and not many good ones makes the audience loose the intensity.Ending is good and reminded me of one of DVG's Lines and a reminder of an English movie with similar one.
The typical Yograj Bhat directional intensity is missing though due to obvious reasons.Liked the acting of the boy who played younger Diganth.

Music by Mano Murthy is good .Yarighelona nam prooblemu and nenna gungalli chelisuvenu
songs are good and has good cinematography  .
For all those who have not watched the movie ,go and watch it without any high  expectations ,its  a enjoyable ride overall .Lifeu estene boss ,just watch it and move on .Dont expect too much !

Its 11pm in the night ,and getting a call from my brother from USA after a long time !going to pick up.

Signing off :
Lets move on !

Kabuliwaala By Tagore-A tale to remember

Have been reading this ,time and again the thought comes to my mind ,can anyone else even think of such an wonderful story.Cannot forget the innocence of the child when Tagore says when the child asks her father questions like:
"What do you think, Father? Bhola says there is an elephant in the clouds, blowing water out of his trunk, and that is why it rains!"

Wow i miss this innocence friends and i know you also do.We have lost it over time.We see life in a different perspective .

The patience with which the Kabuliwaala listens to the child which amazes Tagore himself.I wonder have we lost that patience in today's lifestyle. We might have lost it.

The bond between the child and Kabuliwaala is so amazing that the child waits and longs for him when he goes once in a year to his home country. What is the relation here. There is something for all of us to learn here.If not at least for me .

Again at the end  Tagore makes all of us cry with an end where Kabuliwaala returns after many years to
see the child(now a bride -on her wedding day) and Kabuliwaala has brought her some fruits and asks the bride "Little one, are you going to your father-in-law's house?" is a sequence where Tagore is at his best .
Then when Tagore says:
But Mini(child) now understood the meaning of the word "father-in-law," and she could not reply to him as of old. She flushed up at the question, and stood before him with her bride-like face turned down.

We come to know that child that Kabuliwaala was looking was long gone.

Kabuliwaala is an amazing journey ,a simple story but with lot of emotions .

Thanks to Tagore we at least can read of the Child like innocence now and experience the same in his stories.

JagadoddhArana AdisidaLeshoda-The innocence of the mother

People Call me sarcastic but there is much beyond sarcasm to me.This is one song which i love to sing .
Again here i am going to give my  perspective of the devotional song which elucidates the rendered by Saint Purandara dasa which elucidates the point of omnipresence of Lord Shri Krishna and the innocent love of mother.

The saint describes that Krishna  is the lord of whole universe and he dwells even in the Small atoms and at the same time everywhere. This aptly reminds of the Sanskrit saying "Vishum Sarvamayam Jagat".
The poet wonders that Yashodha -Mother was playing with Krishna innocently treating him as a child not knowing his real attributes. The Lord also don't want her to know that he is the lord of the universe ,the poet so  says so that the mother can enjoy the innocence of the child( This is very heart warming indeed).

The lord acts in a mischievous manner radiating the joy everywhere that what we call as Ananda .In sum and substance , this devotional song  makes one to feel that there is devotion ,there is joy and whole philosophy of life in it.

 Life as It is -
Wait for further posts for the different take on the life. !

Shammiji and the Art of Dance

This blog was written 6 months back and now i am posting it as a tribute to the master .
Shammi Kapoor described himself as Renaissance man, retired actor and computer buff on Twitter.
He said he never learnt dance but his dance was a craze and still is all over the nation. Not a professional
it might amaze everyone how he could bring on that magic.Again he kept it simple,he was his own choreographer and was lucky enough to have Rafi as his voice or was Rafi Saab lucky to have Shammi bring life to his songs. It is still a million dollar question and its always better somethings are left unanswered .

Shammi Kapoor did not go about doing Freestyle dance like Jeetendra (was called Jumping Jack for his free style dance) but danced to the beats and rhythms of the song.It became Shammi Style.

When Rafi Saab died Shammi Kapoor said, "I am incomplete without Mohammad Rafi. I used to often go for the recoding of my song, which was sung by Mohammad Rafi, only because I used to like telling him how I would perform on this song on screen so that he can sing it that way. Even he liked my involvement".Dance is about passion and Shammi had the passion to dance .
Can anyone forget those random spastic jerks and jumping around, which mesmerizes the audience even today .You had Meena Kumari ,Vaijayanthi bala and other legendary  dancers in that era but still Shammi ji had created a space of his own.The Junglee hero who went onto play character roles later as he become overweight in the late 70's had set a trend for the generations to come.Shammi the dancer will always stay in our hearts .

The 3 Enigma's Of Indian Cinema-Remembering the Legends

Being Quite a film buff i wanted to talk about the 3 people ,3 starts ,all some how connected to my state Karnataka-Guru Dutt,Shankar Nag and Puttanna Kanagal.I call them Enigma because their works become more famous and adorned after they had long given up  their mortal life. But their works still stays with us.
Who can forget the classics like Pyaasa,  Kaagaz Ke Phool (disastrous box-office performance  though )from Guru Dutt. The title song of Chaudhvin Ka Chand is an examle of  all time classic with composer Ravi, and the lyrics by his all time favourite Shakeel Badayuni and with the golden voice of Rafi Saab .It still remains in the heart of every Indian. Not to forget the ever beautiful Waheeda Rehman in the lead with Guru Dutt.

His  life was as enigmatic as their death turned out to be .On 10 October 1964, Guru Dutt was found dead in his bed in his rented apartment at Pedder Roadin Mumbai. He is said to have been mixing alcohol and sleeping pills. His death may have been suicide, or just an accidental overdose. It would have been his third suicide attempt .

I remember Gopaakrishna Adiga's Line here " ಇರುವುದೆಲ್ಲವ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಇರದುದರೆಡೆಗೆ ತುಡಿವುದೆ ಜೀವನ"

Next comes our  own legendary kannada director Puttanna Kanagal .Who can forget "olave jeevana saakShtkaara" with Annavru and Jamuna(Telugu Actress if my memory is right) at their best .He was instrumental in getting the new wave of cinema or cinema with social relevance a new lease of life in Indian Cinema, along with the likes of K Balachander during that period.
Even the rock hard person will become emotional after seeing and hearing he song "janma needida bhutaayiya" from PADUVAARAHALLI PAANDAVARU.

Again he touched upon different varieties of cinema ,like Upasane and MAANASA SAROVARA is probably the finest movie with a subject exhibiting the human psychology.

A legend again ending up with a tragic death .

I just cannot talk about Shankar Nag as a director or an actor,he was a star with a vision.Recently i heard that in an interview where his wife Arudathi Nag(Actress and Theatre person) tells that he had a vision of Bangalore metro in those days that he went to Europe on his own expenses to get to know how this dream could be made possible in Bangalore.
What Shankar Nag could have done in this age of mobiles, computers ,apple products is anybodies guess.
But fate has its own rules.Again another director who thought beyond his times,Malgudi Days-Remember the title sound track composed by  Carnatic musician L. Vaidyanathan.
Can anyone forget the music and songs of his film Geeta composed by Ilayaraja .I can still hear at least one song of this film played again and again in our FM channels.

Again he died in an car accident.

3 legends who  took Indian Cinema to another level altogether.

Life As It Is -A take on the ECM Family Day Skit Reactions

Before i start with the event on the day September 10th 2011-these series of Blogs and poems  would be a take from my side on various aspects of life with a human touch (Really).Never wanted to reveal feeling but never wanted to hide them too.Very few people have really understood the real person in me and thanks to them for making me think to publish these(not  yet published ),else all the poems and books in hard copies would be lost in my shelf at home.

Those late nights of script writing(3 to 4 people changing dialogues as they wish ) ,those rehearsals and the search for the NIRMA  girls using both seniority and contacts ! and some great  friends made during this time was truly an amazing experience.I cannot go on with this in the Bhatru style so stopping at this.

I have always had the fear of how people would react .Reaction for me is an instant phenomenon.Reacting to situations for me has always been difficult, because True Lies have always been difficult for me to tell .Coming back to the ECM Family Day and the skit which we finally managed to do !,it was a well managed show.
Theatre and Music have always been my passion apart from writing books !

Why take part in a skit ,when i can dance, get the Boss(RD Burman ) tunes on my flute !and probably read out my poems.I think theatre and drama mostly street plays is an excellent way to reach to the pulse of the audience.
Yes fashion shows ,dances ,songs are great ,we enjoy them, but from my perspective that effect is missing .
We need to create an impact for the future (might sound bit philosophical). And with the audience sitting and looking at entertainment ,conveying a message is very difficult. My cousin in US always says you cannot change people, they have to do it for themselves. But i don't agree with him in this aspect at least ,because at least we need to make a try.Whether i succeed or not is a different story.

If i fail as Nisar Ahmed says  "Mattade Besara" .But i  will not stop. But the complex thing in this situation is
which is the right way to convey a message ,again as Lord Shri Krishna says ,there is no one way here.It depends on the output. If the out put is right ,it is the right way.Just as my Previous Group Manager in my present and the only company i have worked so far after passing out in 2007 used to say -You might loose the battle Pavan,Winning the War is important.I think it suits here.I will come back with much more of his meaningful dialogues later.I am a big fan of his and where ever i am or what ever i achieve definitely remember him for giving me some valuable inputs which has improved the person in me to a great extent .Gratitude and to be Honest is very important i believe.

Coming back to the skit,i asked my cousin sister who had come to watch ,on how was the play.

Here came the reply:
Pavan, awesome Kano, that one Nirma  Girl was really good in the another act,she looks really cute  and the other Nirma girl and the narrator danced really well in the Aaja Nachle Khatak Dance .I had asked about the skit ,story and its message .

Reaction is an instant phenomenon guys.I understood yesterday.Lifeu Istene -Planning to go today .

Then i searched for my Guru ,people call me his sisya and i asked him hengittu Guru ,here came the reply

Super,better than the rehearsals !
He is the Guru so i won't elaborate on this much.I need to work on lot more invention reports with him in the years to come.Again one more person whom i believe has influenced my thinking in a great way.

This is the last reaction i am going to talk about really !
I asked my father's car driver who was standing at the back and he watched the skit too it seems, hengittu boss drama.

Here came the reply:
Yen chennagi madidru saar fashion show, drama dalli rajni full minchda saar,OM Shanti OM Shah Ruck Khan Film alva saar.Aa rajni style hair cut yelli madsda saar ,naanu hogbeku.

I said in paapareddi palya and stopped.

Before i asked my father ,he asked me,why didn't you sing or play your Boss (Burman Da) tunes in your flute in a heavy voice
I said " Main Aisa Hi Hoon " and dozed off in the car.

It is a strange world we are living in ,where to convey a positive moral message is more complicated than
getting a navigation system up and running .I remember an famous historian words on how to go about or take such reactions. He says take it as it is.This reaction is not new to me ,be it in Ramaiah Udbhav Fest (My engineering college) , BMS Utsav Fest or PES fest we used to get the similar kind of reaction for our performances.

I am sure families came there for entertainment and yes they deserved to be entertained .That's what happened finally.

Was i disappointed,I have stopped reacting because as i said earlier -Reaction is an instant phenomenon and lets take life as it is without review comments.

Now its Sunday and i now try to prepare for my case study ,and replies to my and my Guru's invention reports ,somewhere down the line i feel i am loosing  the innocent child in me .I don't have expectations .But
i still expect something good can  happen in this wonderful country and my wonderful namma bengaluru. We have lot of poor people here guys ,lets do something for them, after all we live only for a short period of time.

So folks ,wait for my book/blog which would be co authored on Namma Bengaluru.(Lost in Bangalore)-For Pakka local people again as usual with pakka Pavan feelings and shayaris .

Signing off from ECM Family Day Skit -pag1kor- Pavan Govindan.
